Happy Birthday Girl :D

7 Nov

For my birthday, a very dear friend of mine treated me to a breakfast buffet, a refreshing lunch, a sumptuous dinner and a lot more eating in between, and made sure I had a great time despite the fact that I couldn’t celebrate with my family (until 2 days after) because of our difficult schedules.

frozen margarita and apple mojito

Of course, since it’s my birthday, it was a no-brainer that we would eat out, al fresco at that, in Greenbelt – my favorite hang out place in the metro, even tho he is not a big fan of the place hehe. We had dinner at Italianni’s and a music duo (singer and guitarist) was playing lovely songs for the entire duration that we were there. Simple but perfect night! All the things I love were there to celebrate with and for me!

some sort of napa valley salad, some sort of garlic bread, and salmon and cheese pizza. (no idea how these are called in their menu!)

Ahhh food was great! company was great! music was great, outside dining is always great, my old sky blue floral dress still looking pretty and flowy, the good stories, my being able to celebrate without spending a single dime! Thank you, universe, for making sure I had fun! 🙂

We also had lunch at the Wholesome Table, in Salcedo, Makati which serves organic food. It was my first time there and I instantly fell in love with the place. The restaurant was so beautiful and comfy, what with the rustic-beach cottage ambience which I was really digging. I want all their furniture in my future beach house!

Food was also delicious. We ordered their carbonara and a bowl of salad, and then indulged in their refreshing drinks. I loved the chai tea frappe! Waiter offered to replace the pasta because he thought bacon in it was a bit too burnt but we didn’t think it was necessary. I appreciated the initiative tho. 🙂

Wholesome Table’s a bit pricey but this is understandable considering the resto’s advocacy to only use organic ingredients.

Well, I could say that my 27th birthday did not involve any grand party but I nonetheless had a very amazing time… eating… eating… and eating… for free. So thank you, Rene! I want you to know I appreciate being fed like a queen on my birthday! 😀 hihihi

I would also like to thank my friend/office mate, Ago, for buying me pancit so we could somehow celebrate my birthday in the office even though salary was delayed. We only had the said pancit and this cake I bought at a local bakery for only Php250.00 to share but these were good enough to make my day at the office special. Thank you office mates for celebrating with me! You’re the best! 😀 thank you! I really appreciate it! 🙂

What do I say? It was indeed a happy birthday for me ^_^ thanks to the good people around me! ^_^

Le Pradier

24 Jul

While in Switzerland, I got the chance to try out several restaurants with really good dishes but the best among them all would definitely be Le Pradier.P_20160706_014012Le Pradier is located in the heart of Geneva. This is where the Philippine Delegation headed to right after our Constructive Dialogue to feed our hungry stomachs and celebrate all our hard work. Good call omg! 🙂

geneva 41The alfresco area of the restaurant is sooooo nice with the hanging plants and all. (Photo above was taken from their website) The inside is equally alluring with its sophisticated presentation.

P_20160706_014459Based on my research, Le Pradier means “The Meadows” or “The Fields”. I must say that it is a very fitting name because we were literally in a field of orchids (real orchids at that).

P_20160706_032332_BFI suddenly remembered my mom. She would love this resto as much as I did.  I think i  uttered “It is so beautiful here” a hundred times while we were there lol. I also felt that I dressed so suitably for the occasion. Bagay ang red dress ko sa romantic ambience! ^_^ ahaha.

I was giddy all throughout dinner. My fascination was just too much. hihi. It was indeed the best way to end a very exhausting and work-heavy day. Whoever from the Philippine Mission in Geneva chose Le Pradier, I salute you! I adore your taste! LOL I think I was the gladdest person in the house that night. I truly appreciated the place. 🙂

And then there was the food!

IMG_20160706_035911Did I mention that Le Pradier was a buffet restaurant? You read that right! It was a buffet of seafood, cheese and dessert! There were other sorts of food that you could find but to be honest, I was already sold at the sight of the cakes! OMG OMG OMG T_T

IMG_20160706_035322Yes, the first batch of food on my plate are the strawberry flavored sweets hihi. ^_^  But as they say, Life is short so eat desserts first! 😀

P_20160706_014347The table setting was very elegant and colorful. The resto’s interior decor was a little eclectic which was a good twist to the overall romantic vibe it was going for. It wasn’t your usual romantic-cute or romantic-sweet restaurant.  The plates, for example, are cliche-defying.

I told myself, this is the kind of restaurant I will own one day!

P_20160706_023210But for now, allow me to just enjoy being a patron…

And allow me to dive in to this wonder:

P_20160706_020013_BFLe Pradier’s sponge cake was the best sponge cake I’ve tasted so far. I don’t know about you guys but when I taste something superb, I automatically close my eyes and I savor that moment when the food is still touching my tongue and giving my taste-buds a good orgasm lol.  ONE OF THE BEST FEELINGS IN TH WORLD. Shallow Euphoria indeed! 🙂

P_20160706_014705A variety of cheese spread on one corner of the buffet table. Lovely! Switzerland is known for its good cheese. And I got a taste of each of that and I approve of the trademark! LOL

P_20160706_014714I think I should also mention that the waiters in Le Pradier were all very nice. They were always smiling and always asking us if we needed anything. One of them didn’t speak English but he tried so hard to comprehend what I was saying when really, I was just asking where the ladies’ room was. We kinda spent 15 minutes talking in vain. He kept on guessing what I wanted “The bill? The spoon? The fork? Another cake?” hahaha. Good thing the other waiter who spoke a little English arrived. When the first waiter finally got it, we all just laughed out loud. hahaha.

I don’t know what is with Swiss people but they are surprisingly really kind and friendly and interacting with them is very light to the heart. 🙂

P_20160706_032507It goes without saying that I left the restaurant full, fat and with diabetes! hahaha. That’s okay though! I had an amazing time! It was worth every pound gained and every sugar sustained. haha.

P_20160706_032958_1So, if you ever go to Geneva, Switzerland make sure to try Le Pradier out. It is not a very spacious dining place but it is lovely I promise! ^_^ You would enjoy eating here if you are like me who scores a restaurant not only by the food, but also by the service and the overall feel of the place.

geneva 4That’s all for today! I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend! 🙂

Orange You Glad?

26 Nov

Yesterday, we celebrated the National Consciousness Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (VAW). It was the kick off activity of an 18-day global campaign that runs from Nov. 25 to Dec. 12 here in the Philippines. Orange is the official color of this event. And in solidarity with this cause, I’m gonna share with you today an outfit of the same color. 🙂

P_20150321_225449I wore this outfit when we went out for lunch at Nuvali, Laguna to celebrate my brother’s birthday. It was my second time to visit the place and I still find it really nice and relaxing. It is another good place away from the busy roads of Manila (just like Tagaytay).

It was my second time to visit this place and I noticed there is still an overpopulation of koi fish in the man-made lake. They make the waters look vividly orange but I just feel bad for these animals; there’s just too many of them.

P_20150321_225608My look is somehow inspired by the samurai outfit. Kept it simple with only a belt and a pair of stud earrings as my accessories. I think my style has evolved drastically from my college days. If you visit my old blog, you will find me wearing lots of short shorts and some borderline racy outfits which would usually start up a skirmish with my dad. lol

P_20150321_225610Maybe the transition was brought about by the fact that i have substantial disposable income now and so I can afford to buy really nice clothes – the clothes that I could only dream of back in college when I had to survive with very meager allowance. haha.

My mom used to tell me that the best part of life is when you have your own career, are earning your own money, and don’t have any serious obligations to take care of. She would always remind me to enjoy being single and not rush getting married and all that jazz because I cannot get my youth back anymore when I start my own family. Now, I can say that she is right. I am having the best time of my life right now!

Parisian shoes

P_20150321_225844So to my young readers, make sure you finish your studies so that you can get a decent job. Then enjoy your earnings. Spend for yourself, spend for your parents, spend for your friends. Enjoy your hard-earned money because that point in your life will never come again! 🙂 Don’t make irresponsible decisions that would rob you off this opportunity. 🙂

Anyways, more pictures from our lunch that day:

P_20150321_214014yeah, my hair was down during lunch. I just did an updo after eating for the sake of the pictorial to complete the samurai vibe. hahablog2Hehe don’t you just love my big hair? 😉

Todd English

3 Nov

For the second installment of my birthday celebration, my family and I went to Todd English Food Hall for lunch. We were supposed to go to Resorts World Manila but detoured to Bonifacio Global City after seeing the traffic right in front of Newport area.

I’ve read about Todd English Food Hall from kuya Pat’s blog (pepesamson.blogspot.com) but never really got the chance to try it out ’til this day.

The place is really big and it is posh. However, going there 1pm on the dot was not a very good idea as it was really jam-packed with hungry patrons.  I hate (over) crowded restaurants. For one, you cannot expect service crews to attend to your needs immediately because they have to deal with a looooot of people (…and of course, you have to understand the situation.Just to clarify, I am not a difficult customer. On the contrary we were brought up to be very polite and kind to waiters). Second, it is noisy. Third, i cannot fully enjoy the ambience that the resto ought to imbibe because there are too many distractions. But that’s just me. 😛 Each of us has his/her our own kaartehan in life. lol.

Colorful refreshments. (not-so) Green Mango shake and watermelon shake for mom and me.

Lobster and guacamole. But as per my mom’s comment, it is better off called guacamole alone because the lobster was almost non-existent lol. Not a big fan of avocados sans sugar but this dish was good enough.

Seafood galore. My order 🙂

This is me all dolled up. haha.

Brother’s choice. Always the burger orderer haha.

Pork chop that tastes divine. Easily the best dish on the table. I dare say it tastes even better than the expensive rib-eye steak dad ordered for himself. haha.

Family selfie. 😉

Spaghetti with meatballs again for my brother who said it tastes “too pang-mayaman” for his pallete (no, it is not a positive comment.)

The steak I was talking about earlier. 😀

My outfit for that day:

I was supposed to wear a pair of Navy blue high-waist flannel pants that would’ve given the whole ensemble a corporate-elegant vibe, but upon seeing the get-up of everybody else I decided to just wear jeans instead. lol. I forgot to send them a memo that the dress-code is “fashiown!” hahaha.

After lunch, we headed to Malcolm Deli for coffee and snacks.

A Sunday afternoon well-spent. Always so when I’m with my family. 🙂 ❤

1 Nov

I’m officially 26 and I have only good things to celebrate my birthday with. Nothing can beat having a life full of blessings and I am at that point in my life where everything is just perfectly imperfect or imperfectly perfect and there’s nothing i’d like to change.

I try to celebrate my birthday well every year. I mean, it is the one day that I am entitled to be anything I want and people will indulge me willingly. haha so I really go all out every third week of October.

For this year, one of my paandar-s is to go out wearing a bongga dress. I saw this leopard print dress in Landmark two weeks ago and fell in love with it immediately. However, that dress caught my eye in the rarest times that I am not in my “impulsive buying” mode. So i hesitated to buy it because it is a little pricey and I didn’t have an occasion to wear it to… until I decided to be an African Queen on my birthday haha.

This dress is just perfection. I love how the shade of green blends well with the leopard print and I love how the two elements complement a morean skin tone like mine so well. 😀

2015-10-24 19.59.35

Aaaah i felt really good wearing this dress. It was turning heads (especially with my hair down like that! haha) and I must admit, I kinda enjoyed the attention I was getting ansaveeeeeh hahahaha.  It was my birthday so don’t complain! hahaha

2015-10-24 20.00.27

As part of my week-long celebration, I brought my lovely cousins (plus Bes, ate Jo’s boylalooo) at Greenbelt for dinner and drinks on Saturday night.

We went to Torch for dinner and while they’re food isn’t that spectacular, I personally had a very good time just sharing stories, gossips, dreams, news and that philly cheese steak pizza with these girls! haha

I love my cousins so muuuuuch. 😀 We hang out a lot and I treat them like my sisters. Our closeness is one of the things I’m really proud of, you see. We know everything about each other and we share each other’s secrets – down to the dirtiest, most incriminating and most humiliating ones. lol.

Okay… Enough of my chummyness now. Haha. After dinner, we proceeded to NuVo bar for drinks!

I’m so into bars with live acoustic bands. I think I got that from my aunt, Tita Salyn. hehehe.

Water for Ate Jo (LOL loser! haha), San Mig for Bes, Blue Margarita for Larra, Wengweng for Kath, and Pinacolada for me that night. (I’m usually an amaretto sour and baileys kind of lady but pinacoloda is a close third hehe)

Another thing I like about my cousins is that they know how to dress up too! I told them to go fashiown because I’d be wearing a diva dress and they did not under-deliver hehe!

My cousins are the best because they accept me for who I am. I mean I dress differently from the rest of the Brigola clan snd I think I am rather weird, but they just let me be! 🙂 hehehe. Nobody cares anymore and I love that! haha

Larra! aaaah why so gorgeous te?!  🙂

This is not really a complete set. We are missing my sister Myan and ate jo’s sister Jean (Jean is too young for nights-out like this one hehehe) but all my good words and wishes for Ate Jo, Kath and Larra apply to the missing two just the same! hehehe

Love you mga te!!!!!!! mwah mwah! ❤ ❤ ❤

Shabby Chic

2 Sep

It is not very often that a posh mall goes on SALE all-out. So imagine my joy when I chanced upon Kashieca in Greenbelt 3 last week and found this adorable coat-dress hanging on the Php 300 rack.  I looked at the etiquette and saw the name of JC Buendia, a renowned Fashion Designer who apparently designed for the said brand. Knowing him, the dress’s original price was probably Php 2,000 at the very least. So yes, it was imperative for me to buy that dress, among the other chic clothes there up for bargain. :))
I wore this dress last Sunday for my dad’s early birthday celebration. We went to Bag of Beans, Twin Lakes for brunch. I’ll be giving you a glimpse of what this resto’s got to offer in terms of food and interior design. 🙂

The restaurant’s theme is shabby-chic. It was so cozy and pretty and I loved it as much as I loved the other restaurants in Tagaytay we’ve been to.  I am biased towards white-and-wood and Bag of Beans, Twin Lakes made a very good use of that.

Happy place indeed! 🙂 I hate travelling to Dasma because of the impossible traffic but somehow, knowing that I’m only a few steps away from Tagaytay (and its super awesome restaurants) compensates for the hassle.

JpegKashieca x JC Buendia coat-dress, Kate Spade bag, Parisian platformsJpeg Jpeg White french windows, lovely white flower centerpiece, pretty napkin holder and a spectacular view of the Taal Volcano.  beans

These white wooden cabinets greet the guests in the hallway. Lovin’ the cottage feel all around.

I wanted that floral hat so badly. If it were for sale I would’ve bought it in a snap. It’s just so girly and cute. And the lamp too. Aaaaah this place is divine!!!!

The vine patterns hand-painted on the wooden planks were interesting details to the creamy off-white tables. OK, I’m running out of synonyms for the word “pretty”. Help?? lol

Descending the stairs is impossible without stopping by to take photos at the landing. (See my 2 solo pics above with the white bicycle.) And after all the kaguluhan by the stairs, I found myself just right outside the restaurant.

And then there’s the food. Food in Tagaytay is waaaaaay better than food in Manila restaurants. The ingredients are always fresh, the meat are always tastier and their desserts are incomparably heavenly.

The porterhouse steak was the best. Be sure to order it when you visit this place. NO QUESTIONS ASKED. My other favorites are the ceasar’s salad -with mouthwatering sauce and very fresh greens, and the Blueberry cheesecake because well, it’s sweet haha.beans6It was another long weekend well spent. 🙂 There is no getting used to this! 🙂

I’ll see you again Bag of Beans! ❤

Happy birthday papa! I love you! 🙂

10 Jul

Yesterday was my mom’s birthday. We celebrated it with dinner at the newly opened branch of Crisostomo at Blue Bay Walk in Pasay City. Despite the heavy rains brought about by the typhoon, we still managed to go out and bond. Dining out has always been our default family time. We’re not big movie goers and my parents are not so much of thrill seekers but every time there’s an occasion, it’s imperative that we eat out.

Last time, I promised you guys that my next outfit post would not be blue. LOL. And I’m happy to announce that my clothes last night were far from it. Anyways, I was somehow inspired by Kate Middleton’s outfits circulating the net lately (where she’s wearing a white dress during Charlotte’s christening) – very chic, clean and comfy. And I tried to infuse those elements into this:

Yes, the typhoon presented an opportunity for me to wear my trench coat again lol. Being in a tropical country, weather’s almost always too hot or humid (yes even if it’s raining) to don a trench coat. So, yesterday was a chance I could not miss. haha.

Paired it with off-white pants, a pair of gold shoes from Parisian, Dorothy Perkins bag and gold accessories from Baclaran bangketa  (sort of like a flea market in other countries). haha.

I have this thing for fancy, well lit, cozy restaurants. I get excited when a restaurant’s interiors  are elegantly put together, with lots of whites, lights, and plants. oh and of course,  let’s not forget the nicely plated food.  I’m not a big fan of expensive buffets and of Chinese restaurants, what with their standard 10-seater round tables, dragon images and feng sui porcelains etc. Not my type of place, although I do appreciate the food 🙂

Jpeg This particular branch of Crisostomo has magnificent interiors. And it’s very spacious too. Its open-below was the key to achieving that very regal feel to it. I mean, just look at the blend of the tree and the chandelier!  =)

crisostomo1Anyways, this is how my outfit looks like sans the coat. Hidden by it was this emerald green bodycon dress from Forever 21 which I used as a top. 😉
